Simeon and Anna

Tags :

Continuing to follow the early life of Jesus we now find ourselves entering the temple for the dedication of Jesus. Here we run into two characters, Simeon and Anna. Simeon had spent his life in preparation of the promise of the deliverance of Israel and Anna, a widow for the majority of her live, lived in the temple praying and waiting for the redemption of Israel. It seems that their entire lives had been lived waiting for this one particular encounter with the Jesus and his parents.

That much focus, that much dedication, all leading to a specific moment. Had Simeon or Anna decided that they deserved a break, or if they were distracted by trying to capture the perfect Instagram photo op. or just simply to tired to pick their heads up off the floor they could have missed it. An entire live’s preparation missed because of distraction.

What are we living to accomplish? How do we prepare for our live’s purpose? What is our live’s purpose? Join us tonight as we take a look at living a life of preparation.

Doors open at 3:30, dinner at 5:15, and the experience to follow.

Direction

Direction.

Maybe you have a strong sense of it, maybe you do not. No matter how strong your sense of direction or purpose; chances are, somewhere a long the line the direction you thought you were headed ended up taking you somewhere quite unexpected. These disruptions in our self-realized grand schemes can either send us spiraling or we can allow them to refocus us.

As we continue to follow the early life of Jesus we find the small family in a bit of danger as Herod’s anger pours over the land of Bethlehem, claiming the lives of every infant in and around the place that Jesus was born. Thanks to Joseph’s willingness to listen and act, Jesus life was spared. However; this small family finds themselves fleeing to Egypt. Egypt, a land that previously their people had been enslaved and brutally mistreated for so many years. A place that was once a symbol of oppression and suffering now acting as a haven of shelter.

Whatever we may have planned for our futures or the directions we foresee our lives headed, twists and turns in the road don’t have to mean failure, but can often be God’s way of keeping us on track for a successful future.

Join us tonight at the usual time the usual times: doors open at 3:30, dinner at 5:15, and the experience to follow.

See you tonight!

The Full Spectrum of Gratitude

Tags :

As we enter into this season of Thanksgiving we want to take the next few weeks at OASIS to explore the full spectrum of gratitude. In our times of loss, in our moments of reward, and in the stillness it is important to live with a willing gratitude. Tonight we will explore loss and grief and how in the moments when our hearts feel broken and burdened, it is in those cracks that an opening for God’s light and hope can filter through.

Join us tonight for our Outreach Night experience. Doors open at 3:30, dinner at 5:15, and the experience to follow.

See you tonight!

“Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.” -Romans 5:1-5

Join us tonight for our annual Zombie Night Experience at Oasis. Following as close to our usual Outreach Night format, doors will open at 3:30, dinner at 5:15, and the experience to follow.

Tonight we will be zombifying participants upon arrival. As per usual on a zombie night, there will be make up and face paint to aid in the zombification of all. After dinner we will head upstairs for a brief time together before the “Outbreak” sweeps through the building. This will be an experience that takes us all through and around Oasis as we search for the light that, at times, seems to be so easily absorbed by a dark world and seek out the healing power of the light and the relationships that are formed in it.

Join us tonight for a “zomtastic” evening!

Harmony

Tags :

“Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with mutual affection… live in harmony with one another… if it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. “  -Romans 12:4-8

Tonight we take a look at living in harmony with one another. We will dive into what it is to not just coexist but to live as one in community. How in order to move forward, in faith and in our lives, we must learn to fill in where others have blanks and rely on the support of those we trust when we ourselves are in need.

We gather at our usual time. Doors open at 3:30, dinner at 5:15, and the experience to follow.

Hope to see you out!

Our OASIS October is all about loving through resolution

Tags :

“Jesus answered,’Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid because I know where I have come from and where I am going…'” -John 8:14

Our Oasis October is all about loving through resolution. Showing love by seeking to find resolution while also being an agent of love during the process of resolution. Tonight we take a look at STABILITY. What stability is needed to ensure a healthy quest toward resolving conflicts? What stability is attained through the process?

Stability is understanding where you’ve come from and having a sound understanding of what you are trying to accomplish. Join us tonight as we tie our journey thus far into the road we seek to travel ahead.

Tonight doors open at 3:30, dinner at 5:15, and the experience to follow!

Cleanse your hands… and purify your hearts…

Tags :

“Those conflicts and disputes among you, where do they come from? Do they not come from your cravings that are at war within you?Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands… and purify your hearts…” -James 4:1-8

As we move away from Confrontation and begin to look towards Resolution we start at the very roots of the process. In order for there to be any from of resolution something needs to be surrendered. More often than not that thing is our pride—the ever daunting cloud of comparison that lingers over us daily. “I’m right!” “What makes them so special?” “I deserve something more.”  And the longer we brew over these comparisons the more upheaval we will experience. Tonight we look into how to filter thru the good and the bad in our lives and what it is to cleanse your hands, and purify your hearts, and draw nearer to God as we move towards resolution amongst each other and within ourselves.

Tonight we gather at our usual time. Doors open at 3:30, dinner at 5:15, and the experience to follow.

Hope to see you out!

Philippians 4:8-9

Tags :

Good afternoon!

Tonight we will gather for our Outreach Night experience as usual. Doors will open at 3:30, dinner at 5:15, and the experience to follow. Tonight we look at our view of self and how we shade and inform this canvas we call life. Are our breath strokes adding beauty or dissonance? Do we see the effects of our actions or are we looking past our footprint, never noticing the shifts that our steps have caused? Tonight we explore seeing the world thru God’s lens and viewing ourselves through His eyes.

“Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.”

-Philippians 4:8-9

Happy Autumnal Equinox!

Happy Autumnal Equinox!

Fall is officially here and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Long sleeved tees, leaves changing, and pumpkin flavored everything! With the onset of Fall one notion is clear: change is always happening; change of weather, change of attitude, or change of perspective. We are always adjusting and adapting, like the trees, conditioning and preparing ourselves for what is to come.

Sometimes we have to condition ourselves for a long rocky winter, when resources become scares and the environment brutal. Sometimes we prepare ourselves for harvest and feast. No matter what we are enduring and what changes come our way it is crucial that we keep vigilant watch over our hearts. (Proverbs 4:23) Remaining mindful not to strategize and align ourselves with fruitless banter but keeping focused on what is true and what is pure and what is right. (Philippians 4:8)

Tonight we take a look at the Power of Integrity. Do our actions back our talk and when we speak are we fully ready to live by the standards in which we boast? When we are forced into survival mode what instincts guide our actions?  Tonight we explore such questions and more. We will end our evening with an opportunity for youth to be baptized.

Tonight doors open at 3:30, dinner at 5:15, and the experience to follow after.

Hope to see you out!
