Organizations

Community Agencies:

    • Summit County Juvenile Court: Youth often work out community service assignments at the church and then are invited to participate in activities and attend worship on Sundays.
    • Pastoral Counseling Service: PCS is located on the third floor of StJohn/St,Paul Lutheran Church. Therapists have in-house counseling in the building and often use the gym and kitchen for therapeutic purposes. Case Managers have group experiences at the church where youth come to play basketball and have instruction. All youth involved with PCS are encouraged to join in Oasis activities and to enjoy the hot meals provided.
    • Children’s Services Board: Oasis cooperates fully with CSB when youth are participating in foster home placement. All cases of suspected abuse and neglect are reported.
    • Safe Landing Youth Shelter : Oasis Youth who are in danger are referred to Safe Landing for temporary housing. For Oasis youth who are placed at Safe Landing through court mandate, arrangements are made for youth to be picked up and dropped off for Oasis activities during these temporary placements.
    • Jobs for Our Graduates: Older Oasis youth work with J.O.G. to get their GED. J.O.G. assists in helping to make the transition from the educational system to the working world.
    • Victim Assistance Program: When Oasis youth are victims of crime, Victim Assistance provides emotional support and practical assistance.
    • Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank: Oasis has been an agency of the foodbank since April of 2010.
    • Akron Children’s Hospital: Youth who are required to participate in community service as a result of injury to themselves or others are able to serve in projects and tasks and spend time in the Oasis building and programs.
