Oasis Outreach Opportunity, Inc. is an open, accepting, safe oasis in the heart of downtown Akron where youth gather for spiritual instruction and unconditional love and support from each other and faithful and responsible adults who are also nurtured and sustained by those redemptive relationships. At every gathering, youth and adults eat a hot meal together, spend time in the Scriptures, pray, and laugh together. In addition, every gathering generally involves basketball and other group-play in the gym, interactive discussion and conversation, creative arts, music and worship.

Who We Are

Why OASIS?

History

Participation at all OASIS events has steadily increased.  Active youth (those that attend at least 6 events throughout the year) have grown in number.  Due to OASIS’ emphasis on self-sufficiency and motivation youth have made securing employment a priority.  In pursuance to this, active employment for OASIS youth has dramatically increased.  At present, OASIS students are attending The University of Akron, Fortis College, and training at Wrayco Industries in Stow, Ohio.  Two OASIS participants are currently serving in the United States Marine Corp and one serves in the United States Navy Reserve. The high school dropout rate has decreased and students who have not attended school for years are taking steps to obtain their General Educational Development (GED).  Through mentor reporting, attendance at school has increased, suspensions per school year have decreased, and grade promotion continues to improve.
